Three ways to find your size
I know my size
Already have a size from one system (say, US 8) and need it in another (UK, EU, Germany, or Japan)? Pick this mode, select the system your size is in, and enter the value — you'll get every equivalent plus the underlying mm measurement.
I have a ring that fits
Lay a ring that already fits well flat on a table and measure straight across theinside edge — not the outer edge of the band. That's the inner diameter. Enter it in mm, cm, or inches and we'll find the nearest matching size.
I measured my finger
Wrap a strip of paper or string snugly around your finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure that length — that's your circumference, not diameter. This mode is the most convenient when you don't have a ring on hand, but it's also the most sensitive to how snugly you wrapped the strip.
How to read your result
Every result is intentionally explicit about what's known and what's estimated.
- The large headline size is your best-match US/Canada size, alongside the measured or derived inner diameter and circumference in millimeters.
- The International equivalents table converts that same physical size into every other supported system side-by-side, so you don't need to re-enter your measurement for each one.
- Results from the "have a ring" and "measured my finger" modes are always labeledEstimated — they're derived from a real-world measurement, which always carries some margin of error, unlike a size you already know exactly.
What if I'm between two sizes?
This is common, and it's not a bug — it just means your measurement doesn't land exactly on a standard size.
When this happens, the calculator shows both the nearest smaller and nearest larger standard size instead of silently rounding to one. As a general guide: for thinner bands (roughly under 6mm wide), sizing down to the nearer size is usually comfortable; for wider bands, many jewelers recommend sizing up, since a wide band contacts more of the finger and can feel tighter than a thin band at the same nominal size. If you're unsure, a local jeweler can size you precisely in person.
Measurement limitations to keep in mind
- Fingers are typically larger later in the day and in warm weather, and smaller in the cold — measure a few times if you can.
- Wider bands fit more snugly than thin bands at the same nominal size.
- Different jewelers and manufacturers can reference slightly different sizing standards, especially between countries.
- When measuring an existing ring, always measure the inside diameter — measuring the outside of the band will give you a size that's too large.
Always verify with your retailer
This calculator gives you a strong, honest estimate — not a guaranteed fit. For everyday jewelry it's usually close enough on its own, but for an engagement ring or another high-value, hard-to-resize piece, confirm the size against the retailer's own sizing chart or get sized in person before you buy.

How to measure
Frequently asked questions
What does "Estimated" mean on my result?
Every result is a best estimate based on standard sizing charts, not a guaranteed fit. Actual fit can vary by manufacturer, metal, and band width, so treat the result as a strong starting point rather than a final answer.
Why do you show two sizes instead of one when I’m between sizes?
Rounding to a single "closest" size can quietly hide the fact that your measurement sits between two standard sizes. We show both neighbors so you can decide based on band width and personal preference, rather than getting a false sense of precision.
What’s the difference between diameter and circumference?
Diameter is the straight-line width across the inside of the ring; circumference is the distance around the inside edge. A string or paper-strip measurement around your finger gives circumference; measuring straight across an existing ring gives diameter. Pick the matching mode above so your input is interpreted correctly.
Can I rely on this calculator alone before buying an expensive ring?
For everyday purchases it's a solid guide, but for an engagement ring or another high-value, hard-to-resize piece, confirm the size in person with the retailer or a local jeweler before you buy.
Can I enter my measurement in inches instead of millimeters?
Yes — every mode lets you choose millimeters, centimeters, or inches before entering your measurement, so there's no need to convert units yourself first.
Are ring sizes the same for men and women?
Yes — both use the exact same US/Canada, UK/Australia, EU, Germany, and Japan scales shown here. "Men’s" or "women’s" sizing just refers to the range of sizes each group most commonly wears, not a different measurement system.
