How to use this chart

Understanding the sizing systems

All four systems describe the same underlying inner diameter — they just express it on different scales.

US / Canada

A numeric scale (e.g. 7, 7.5, 8) where each whole size step corresponds to a fixed increase in inner diameter, per the US Bureau of Standards' historical sizing circular. This is the most common scale referenced by online US retailers.

UK / Australia

A letter-based scale (e.g. N, N½, O) also used in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, where each letter step corresponds to a fixed increase in inner circumference per the British Standards sizing specification.

EU

The simplest system by definition: the EU/ISO size number equals the inner circumference in millimeters, rounded to the nearest half-millimeter.

Japan

A numeric scale distinct from the US/Canada one. Our values are corroborated across two independent sources but drift slightly at larger sizes, so treat Japan sizes as a close estimate rather than an exact match.

India doesn't have one single official ring sizing standard, so instead of guessing we include four separate brand-specific columns — Bluestone, Jewelove, VowJewels, and The Vedic Crystals — each matching that retailer's own published conversion. Unit relationships: mm, cm, and inches

Every size in this chart is anchored to a millimeter measurement, since that's the unit sizing standards are defined in. If you measured in a different unit, here's how they relate:

  • 1 centimeter (cm) = 10 millimeters (mm)
  • 1 inch (in) = 25.4 millimeters (mm)
  • Circumference = diameter × π (approximately 3.1416) — this is why both columns are shown directly in the chart, so you never need to calculate it by hand.
